Company

Promeco SpA is an Italian company based in Como,  that manufactures Como and manufacturing, on proprietary technology, plants and equipments for the recycling and recovery of waste with energy production, material recovery or production of finished goods.

Operating in the “green economy”, certainly one of the few still thriving business domains, PROMECO is able to offer many investment opportunities to both private entrepreneurs, banks and financial operators.

The last innovation introduced by Promeco, awarded with a 2010 prize for New Technology, is a plant for the catalytic conversion of mixed plastic waste into liquid fuel (diesel), described as Promeco Plastic to Diesel (PPTD) .
Besides the historical Promeco offers, like those for the production of synthetic sand and finished products from lines for the treatment of post-consumer plastic waste, the new PPTD plant can produce a liquid fuel (crude oil) and a solid by-product (coke ), both used directly, for example, in marine engines (as in the case of the already made in an industrial scale in Singapore) or in the electrical power generators.

38 million tons of waste/year are generated In Italy, and 22% of plastic waste is currently landfilled; assuming only half of reuse, this 11% could produce 26 million barrels a year.
From a strictly economic-financial point, investment in this technology has a ROI of 45%: a figure justifying major interest.

Promeco focuses its activities on research and development: the a strong tension towards imprint process and product innovation is the lifeblood of the company and flows in all departments. For this reason PROMECO machinery and equipment are constantly updated and adapted to market needs.

Historical notes

Promeco has been established in September 1996 when Mr. Paolo Rebai, coming from the family business in construction industry, decided to open a company on his own and to devote himself to the environmental sector, anticipating needs of the market that in Italy became evident only after the passing of the “Ronchi” Decree.
These were the years when the Treaty of Maastricht took the first steps to emphasize environment protection amongst the basic objectives of the European Community, and in which businesses, public authorities and consumers, in the name of a shared responsibility, began to address the problem of waste disposal.

A close cooperation with the Vienna company UTL, historical designer of waste treatment plants, allowed Promeco to acquire experience and expertise in the field of composting and anaerobic digestion,  thus enabling the company to list among its first reference plants one of the first OFMSW anaerobic digestion plants, the one operated by SAAB in Salzburg, that already in those years represented an example of effective treatment and recovery of municipal and industrial waste from a technological point of view, whose location, in the immediate vicinity of the city centre, required a full control of environmental impact.

Over time Promeco has widened its offer, integrating relatively standard waste treatment plants with new machines and systems, specializing in the production of machinery (all patented) that have found place not only in Italy but also in foreign markets.

In 2000 Promeco acquired the Swiss company Dokex, extensively referenced worldwide for the manufacture of its EXTRUDER ®.
The Extruder, made up to that time in Switzerland, is transformed into a “made in Italy” product becoming the Promeco Extruder System ® and convincing more and more customers thanks to the innovations developed by Promeco.

The Extruder  is still a machine of unparalleled versatility and efficiency. Currently, the PES is used with success in 5 different market segments and a dozen per year are produced.

Alongside this historic machine Promeco offers a wide range of equipment, including primary and single rotor shredders, separators, ballistic air, briquetting machines, systems for the pretreatment of materials before anaerobic digestion, single and two screws extruders, centrifuges, lines for the regeneration of post-consumer plastic waste . This wide offer allows Promeco to position on the market both as a manufacturer of single machinery and as a supplier of complete turnkey treatment lines (see section "equipment" of the site).

Strengths

The extensive field experience gained by the Promeco gave the company solid skills: moving from design and engineering activity (in the early 90s) to the manufacturing of every machine to be used the in systems and processes, Promeco has been able to develop customized solutions, avoiding the simplistic offer of standardized machines such as those usually available on the market.
Promeco solutions are able to fill the gaps of the market with tailor-made at 360 °, and today Promeco plants are composed for 80% by machinery at 100% designed, constructed and assembled  by the same Promeco.

The constant research and development is another strength that allows the development of new processes in response to specific requirements that the waste problem and will involve constantly with the changing conditions of life and as a result of directives the law.

The ability to challenge ideas and concepts and to interact with partners at international level has allowed and still allows Promeco to stay highly competitive and to be an ideal partner for the world market.

References and solid business:

In its history PROMECO has installed more than 150 different machines and industrial "turnkey" plants in the world (Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Norway)

To give some examples, we list  only a few references, remarkable technically and for their profitability:

  • Como: Plant for the production of high quality RDF (refuse derived fuel) to be burnt in cement kilns.
  • Singapore: # 2 PPTF plants for the production of liquid hydrocarbons from waste plastics, total capacity 50,000 liters per day.
  • Treviso and Teramo: - Plants for the upgrading of waste plastics from selection centres of the national consortium CO.RE.PLA, with production of granules (for plastic molding and applications in construction industry)
  • Great Britain (Hampshire, Basingstone): a plant for the production of substitute for peat, awarded the contract for the supply of "green" for the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
  • Korea (Daejon, Jion Ji-city, Jeju-do Island): Equipment for the production of high quality RDF - from general industrial waste; this fuel is used in cement kilns to replace coke (coal) in pellets,
  • Japan (Kobe, Komatsu, Khiushu Island, Nishinhion, Tokyo area): Equipment for the production of high quality RDF as an alternative fuel for cement kilns, fluidized bed furnaces and boilers. RDF is produced from a mixture of plastic, paper & cardboard and wood non-recyclable waste in the classical chains.
  • Ivory Coast - MSW anaerobic digestion plant for biogas and electricity production, delivering about 2,500 kW per hour and capable of giving as by product a high quality compost. Approved and certified by UNNFCCC, the  executive body of the UN Carbon Credit certification (Kyoto Protocol), its construction stopped due to political turmoil in the country.

The long history of Promeco is a guarantee of business continuity, and his sound financial statement gives unquestioned trustworthiness and reliability, essential to ensure that customers are dealing with a serious company and have invested in machinery and durable equipment.

The company policy is focused on product quality: robustness and functionality of the machines that maintain their value over time.
