Promeco primary shredders - Premier Series

Overview

The two-shaft shredders PROMECO series "Premier" have been designed for the grinding of different materials. They have been successfully used to process:

  • unsorted municipal solid waste (MSW)
  • similar municipal solid waste (similar urban waste)
  • bulky waste (beds, sofas, refrigerators, doors, etc..)
  • industrial waste
  • timber, railway sleepers, prunings
  • organic waste
  • tires

PROMECO series "Premier" shredders consist of the following elements: feeding hopper, cutting chamber, two hydraulic drive independent rotors, on which are mounted cutting discs in number depending on the material to be treated, counter-combs, a hydraulic drive with a soundproof booth, PLC control system for automatic operation.
Inside the cutting chamber are two counter-rotating rotors, performing the pre-shredding of the incoming material. A PLC manages the operation of the rotors, and can reverse the direction of rotation of these or handle them independently and separately, providing different configurations of rotation of each rotor to withstand heavy loads of material and ensure the shredding of the material in any condition.

Technical Description

FEEDING HOPPER

Made of welded steel, has a capacity of 10 m³.
A level probe helps managing the filling of the hopper.

CUTTING CHAMBER

  • A sturdy stainless steel structure made in welded steel plating. At either side, housed and protected by special steel structures, are the bearings supporting the rotor.
  • Rotor: a robust anti-wear steel cylinder supported by appropriate bearings. The cutting discs are positioned and welded on the rotor in order to obtain a spiral configuration of the cutting edges
  • Cutting discs: large disks having a maximum diameter of 1000 mm, characterized by thickness, made in wear-resistant steel. Each disc has three teeth with a halberd profile.
  • Counter comb: fixed counter-knives, in anti-wear steel, characterized by its significant thickness, supporting the action of the rotor cutting discs during grinding.
  • Side doors (optional): opened on the front and rear sides of the cutting chamber, they allow to eject any material impossible to grind, without any operator having to go into the hopper. Made of welded steel sections, cutting counter-combs are mounted on them.
  • Driving system: the shredder PROMECO PREMIER is equipped with a hydraulic motor for each rotor, driven by a hydraulic power unit. The connection between the motor and pump are provided by a flow distributor and a set of high pressure hoses.

EXTRACTION SYSTEM (optional)

On request, a conveyor belt can be installed under the machine to remove the shredded material.
The metal frame consists of profiles and pressure-plate, which also form the lateral sides. The runway is made of steel rollers that rotate on incorporated bearings. The carpet is made in rubber and is resistant to abrasion, oil and fats. The motor is installed on the head pulley, with gearbox installed directly on the drive pulley.

SUPPORT FRAME (optional)

The shredder can be placed on a structure consisting of 4 supporting legs and rigidly connected each other, made of welded steel sections of varying heights, depending on customer requirements. The standard solution involves the construction (by the customer) of two reinforced concrete walls, according to instructions provided by PROMECO SpA

ELECTRIC CABINET AND CONTROL SYSTEM

  • IP 54 protection.
  • The machine can be managed by a control panel, equipped  with PLC (Siemens S7)
  • The machine is designed to operate both in automatic and in manual mode

GROUP POWER TRANSMISSION TO ROTOR
(ONLY FOR MACHINE EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC ENGINE)

Promeco Primary Shredders can be equipped with AC hydraulic motors (one per rotor), with power ranging from 90 kW to 132 kW, 13-45 rpm, displacement 13,200 cc/rev, specific torque 210 Nm/bar , max working pressure 350 bar, controlled by an electric motor 132 kW, 380 V, 50 Hz, 1470 rpm,  and  a variable displacement axial piston for closed operations, equipped with electro-hydraulic control to adapt the flow and therefore the speed of the hydrostatic motors, having  403 cc / rev, max pressure 350 bar.

CAPACITY

Production capacity varies depending on several parameters such as type, size, moisture and specific gravity of the material input, engine power, size of the rotors, could be up-to 100 Ton/h

For proper evaluation of the productions is always advisable performing a test on a representative sample of the material. The input material must be free of not grindable contaminants (stones, pieces of steel, ...) that could affect the proper functioning of the machine and the cutting discs life.
Particularly tough materials, materials with high moisture, materials difficult to shred, must be reported promptly to the correctly assess the estimated production rate and the type of machine to use.
